Hi, I’m Joe Casal. I was born and raised in New York. I started drawing at an early age, drawing inspiration from comic books, cartoons, pop culture, and later, street art (graffiti), and the New York art scene in the 80’s and 90’s. This eventually led to an “old school” tattoo apprenticeship in 1996. I tattooed alongside my mentor until 1998 when we had to part ways. I wound up walking away from tattooing and got a job working as a union elevator constructor in NYC. I built elevators for about 8 years while still tattooing my friends and relatives whenever I could. In 2007, I moved to south Florida and returned to my original passion of art and tattooing full time. I enjoy tattooing in almost any style  but I prefer large scale full color pieces focusing on comic book/pop culture subject matter. I’ve also developed a reputation for doing effective cover-ups and reworks. I’m so thrilled to be the newest member of the team at Model Citizen, and I look forward to working with all of my amazing clients to create some spectacular artwork!
